Global English

Pathway Overview

In an increasingly globalised world, the need for strong English skills is as important as ever. This course focuses on enhancing English proficiency through general English, speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Divided into five challenges, each consisting of six hours of class time, students gain practical experience in project-based learning, the last challenge being a Hackathon where students are given a global issue and in groups work towards an innovative solution. This comprehensive pathway covers all essential aspects of the English language, equipping learners to communicate effectively in today’s global marketplace.

Example of challenges include:

C1: Guide to UK
C2: Create a Podcast
C3: Mini UN
C4: Dragons Den
C5: Hackathon

Material for the Global English course is based from several ELT teaching resources such as Macmillian, Cambridge, and National Geographic ELT. The main purpose of this course is to improve English language skills through developing the four major skills of Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking which are incorporated in each challenge. This is done by using a task-based language learning approach, led by qualified CELTA and TEFL teachers.
